This one belief could be keeping you stuck

I want to share something that might be uncomfortable for some but necessary to hear.

The biggest thing standing between you and your goals isn’t your schedule, your genetics, or your past failures.
It’s the story you keep telling yourself about what’s possible.

At KG Strength & Performance, I see people walk in carrying invisible weight. Limiting beliefs that are heavier than anything on our racks.

“I’m too old to start.”
“I don’t have the willpower.”
“I’ll never be as fit as I was in my twenties.”
“I’m just not a gym person.”

I’ve heard them all. And I’ve believed a few myself.

Running a business, raising a family, and diving deep into the world of biomechanics and human movement—it’s tested me. I’ve wrestled with thoughts like “I’m not cut out for this,” or “I’ll never get it all done.” The inner voice doesn’t go away. But I’ve learned it doesn’t always tell the truth..

These beliefs aren’t facts. They’re thoughts you’ve practiced. And practiced thoughts become habits.

Thoughts drive your actions. Actions shape your results.

When you think you can’t do something, you show up differently—hesitant, inconsistent, or not at all. And the results that follow seem to prove that belief right.

But what if you’re wrong about yourself?

What if you’re stronger than you think?
More disciplined than you’ve given yourself credit for?
More capable of change than your past attempts suggest?

I've seen 60-year-olds deadlift their bodyweight for the first time. I've watched busy parents who "could never stick to anything" show up consistently for months and then years. People who rewrote their story by taking one small step forward.

Your inner critic might be loud, but that doesn’t make it right. Often, it’s just echoing old fears and outdated narratives.

So here’s your challenge this week:

  1. Notice the limiting thought.

  2. Ask yourself: “Is this actually true?”

  3. Do one small thing that proves it wrong.

You don’t need to feel confident to make progress. You just need to act in spite of doubt.

And remember—this applies to more than health and fitness. It shows up in every part of life.

The version of you that you’re working toward is on the other side of the beliefs that are holding you back.

Let’s go meet them.
